Jane F. Amara, PhD

Jane focuses on companies in the life sciences and works with portfolio companies on their corporate strategies. She participated as a board member or observer for several companies in East Hill's portfolio, working closely with the companies on business plans and implementation.
Jane has over sixteen years' experience in the biotech industry, in research and development and business roles. From 2000 to 2005, she negotiated R&D business development transactions at Biogen Idec. Previously, she had research, project management and licensing responsibilities at start-up and established biotechnology companies, including Genzyme and ARIAD Pharmaceuticals.
She holds a BA in Biology, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California, San Diego, and a PhD in Pharmacology from Yale University, and was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Professor Harvey Lodish at the Whitehead Institute. During her research career Jane published nineteen scientific papers in areas of cancer, cellular biology, protein processing and gene therapy.
